At Westbrook Cycles, we stock and supply an excellent array of chainstays suitable for all bikes, and are supplied by all bike brands for bikes within their collection. The Chainstay is the part of the bike which essentially locks in place the rear axle, which would otherwise be twisted with every pedal stroke.

The chainstay is not just a tool for keeping everything connected either, the shape, length and design of the chainstay all impact on a bike's performance and how it rides. A racing bike for example will have a short chainstay which helps provide good efficient levels of acceleration and climbing ability. Chainstays on bikes such as touring bikes will be different, and will likely be longer - with larger clearances between the tyre and the chainstay to accommodate luggage and panniers, as well as mudguards.

Chainstays are a vulnerable part of the bike - and most chainstays need replacing because they crack and break - and although some chainstays can be repaired, because they are such a key component of the bike - safety conscious cyclists will choose to replace the whole chainstay. At Westbrook cycles, we stock aluminium and carbon chainstays to suit your exact bike and requirements.

If you have any questions about the right chainstay for your bike, or need further help in choosing the right chainstay - you can use our parts finder.
