The All New Cannondale Supersix Evo Is Here
The next EVOlution has landed. The latest iteration of the SuperSix has been unveiled and it promises to be the most exciting version yet! Faster than ever before, without sacrificing comfort, the new SuperSix is lighter and more aerodynamic, pushing the boundaries of a race bike.
So, what's new? Firstly, the frame is lighter, while still surpassing Cannondale's strict fatigue and stiffness tests. In fact, the 56cm frame weighs in from just 770 grams for a fully painted, ready to build frame, making it one of the lightest production road bike frames on the market. This would be an impressive statistic in itself, but this weight reduction is achieved alongside increased aero performance too. Cannondale claim that the new tube shapes lead to a 12 watt saving over the previous generation SuperSix Evo when riding at 45kph, which makes it faster than a lot of aero bikes, but also considerably lighter.
Performance has been enhanced by improved handling, increasing stability at speed, alongside providing the agility to tackle winding alpine descents with ease. The Hi-Mod Cannondale SuperSix Evo bikes will come with two new component innovations. The first of these is a handlebar designed in collaboration with high-performance automotive manufacturer, MOMODesign. Between the two design teams, a drop handlebar that reduces drag significantly, allows full cable integration, and provides ergonomic contact points has been created to further enhance the aero properties for the frameset.
Secondly, the new Hollowgram R-SL 50 wheelset is the next component to bring aero performance in a lightweight package. These are carbon road wheels that have a 50mm deep rim, mated to bladed spokes and a super reliable, super slick DT Swiss 240 EXP hub at the heart. The frameset has clearance for tyres up to 30mm, with a generous 6mm either side to ensure no tyre-rub. The 50mm rim depth allows for real world aero gains without losing the climbing benefits that a lightweight carbon wheelset provides, making this an exceptional all-round wheelset.
SuperSix Evo Technologies
The new Cannondale SuperSix Evo is packed with new features that all go towards creating this high performance race bike package. Let's take a look at some of the specific differences over previous versions of the SuperSix that help make this the fastest Cannondale race bike yet.
Delta Steerer
The new 'Delta Steerer' design not only allows cables to be seamlessly integrated into the frame, leaving no cables exposed at all, but it also means the frontal area can be reduced. Lower frontal area mean less drag, and helps to create a fantastic sleek look.
Tyre Clearance
Tyre clearance is ample, providing 6mm of clearance either side of a 30mm tyre. This adds to the versatility of this race bike, providing the opportunity for riders to run a larger volume tyre for more comfort, or a smaller volume tyre for responsiveness.
No More BB30
The pressfit bottom bracket standard has been ditched in favour of a more traditional approach. The threaded BSA bottom bracket standard provides unbeatable reliability and simplicity and brings a solid foundation for excellent power transfer.
SuperSix Evo Geometry
As mentioned above, the new Cannondale SuperSix Evo has improved handling over previous generations, partly down to tweaks in the geometry. Below is the comprehensive geometry chart for the all new iteration of this speed machine.
