Bike Tyres
There are two main types of tyre, they are rigid bike tyres and folding bike tyres. Each bike tyre has a bead which runs along the edge of the tyre. When an inner tube is inflated, the bead on the tyre clinches to the inside of the rim.
Rigid bike tyres use a wire bead to clinch the rim whilst folding bike tyres use Kevlar beads, to keep the tyre secure. Kevlar is the ideal material for this, because of the properties of Kevlar, tyres which use kevlar are lighter than those which use wire beads, and they can also be folded too - which makes them easier to carry too.
The kevlar bead on folding tyres is easier to fit than a rigid bike tyre with a wire bead too - the downside of course, is expense - with folding bike tyres being more expensive than rigid bike tyres. You can view our complete range of folding bike tyres above, which cover:
