Transition were relatively late to the electric mountain bike scene, but they now have two models available, the Transition Repeater eMTB and the newly announced Transition Relay. The Repeater is equipped with the more traditional style of motor in the form of the Shimano EP800 and the platform is based around 29" wheels, providing 160mm of front and rear travel. This eMTB is aimed at getting more of your favourite descents in, taking away the chore of climbing back up to the top and keeping those legs fresher for the fun bits. The recently announced Relay eMTB is designed to be two bikes in one. The idea behind this Transition eMTB was that it can be ridden as an eBike, but riders can also choose to remove the battery and ride it like a normal bike too, making it an incredibly versatile platform. Add to this the ability to run either 170mm or 160mm of suspension travel with either 29" wheels or a mullet 27.5" rear wheel and you have a very customisable ride. The Relay uses the Fazua Ride 60 motor which almost seemlessly integrates into the frame and is operated via a very subtle handlebar remote. This versatility makes this Transition eMTB a very attractive option.
