A new set of forks for your road bike is a quick and easy way to upgrade your bike, make it lighter, more responsive and more comfortable. Modern forks are constructed from carbon fibre - not only are carbon road forks lightweight, but they also have built in damping properties which soak up the bumps and vibrations from the road.

In the process of upgrading & improving your road bike with aftermarket components - the front forks are one of the first items on any hitlist. Upgraded and aftermarket forks fitted to a road bike, typically increase levels of steering control, whilst making weight savings VS many of the older types of suspension fork. The result of this change is a more precise, faster and more enjoyable riding experience.

The aforementioned weight saving is one of the biggest reasons why our customers look to change the forks on their road bike. The reason for this is simple, older styles of forks, as well as budget forks use heavier materials, such as steel in their construction. The vast majority of upgraded and aftermarket road bike forks are made from much lighter carbon fibre - which as well as being lighter than steel, also offers a much better level of shock absorption, allowing the rider to soak up the lumps and bumps of the UK’s roads.

Colour is one of the most important factors to many customers looking to upgrade their road bike forks is colour - but believe it or not, there are a few more factors for the road cyclist to also consider. Race bias forks will be lighter, more aerodynamic, provide a harsher ride and will be more expensive too, because of their carbon fibre construction. The increase in the use of disc brakes on road bikes, as well as the use of wider and bigger tyres - also means that cyclists need to ensure that there is enough space within the fork to accommodate.

At Westbrook Cycles, we aim to provide the very best possible range of road bike forks, allowing our customers to completely tailor the performance they need from their forks. Starting at around £160, the range runs right up to race spec forks, costing upwards of £600. Brands within this collection of road forks include Scott and Kinesis UK.

You can browse the full range here, and as always - please do just get in touch if you have any questions at all. All of our customer services teams have extensive knowledge of road bike forks - and will be able to advise accordingly.
