Union TC Trail Clipless Pedals
Brand new Union TC clipless pedals - Large platform trail clipless pedals
At Hope they produce products for the true riders. This means developing the best components, not only for the extremes of downhill or EWS, but also for the punishing environment of XC racing and endurance riding. Here, balancing strength, weight and performance is key and they have now applied all their years of expertise into a new area.
Their new mechanism design aims to provide easy pedal entry combined with secure cleat holding and positive release characteristics. Dual clip mechanism means the front clip can move on pedal entry to reduce the effort required to clip into the pedal and flatten the entry angle of the shoe, giving a wider cleat acceptance angle and allowing the front of the shoe sole to run closer to the pedal body to increase stability. Cleat release is driven off fixed pins for positive and consistent release. The Hope mechanism uses a specific cleat and is not cross compatible with other systems.
All pedals are supplied with 2 cleat options. Number 4 cleat gives 4° of free float and has a 12° release angle, number 5 cleat gives 5° of free float and has a 13° release angle, no. 5 cleat also has an increased release effort for aggressive riding. Both cleats also allow 2mm of lateral (side to side) float.
Pedal bodies are CNC machined from billet and there are 3 different models. All bodies are designed to maximise the contact between shoe/cleat and pedal body for increased stability and power transfer. The contact area combines cleat to stop plate contact and shoe sole to pedal body contact to give a super solid under foot feel.
