Regardless of what bike you ride, whether it’s an all singing and all dancing electric full suspension mountain bike, or a sleek carbon fibre race road bike - or just a simple hybrid commuting bike, the importance of keeping your chain well lubricated is well documented. In response to chains needing lubricating, the cycling industry has developed an absolutely huge collection of chain lubricants, so much so - there’s now a type of chain wax for every chain and every riding condition imaginable. These products are pretty easy to use, and most of us now use them without giving them too much thought.

The case for Chain Waxing though is simple, chain waxing vs using a liquid lubricant is better for your chain, you and your bike. Once you are familiar with chain waxing your bike chain, you can enjoy less mess, longer intervals between having to lubricate the chain, alongside less friction, less drag and less half empty bottles of chain lube taking up space in your garage.

Hot waxing your bike chain involves applying the wax in hot, liquid form to a chain which has been cleaned and prepared. The wax does a fantastic job of filling every nook and cranny within the chain and adheres incredibly well to all of the chain’s surface. The cooled wax residue provides a protective, low friction covering which works incredibly well.

Switching to a hot waxed chain does take a little bit of getting used to, but in our experience - the benefits are well worth it.
