Helmets
Regardless of age, if your child is riding a bike - they need to be riding safely, with a helmet. Cycling is a safe activity, but the odd tumble will happen - especially when learning to ride a bike for the first time.
The first thing to do when choosing a kid's cycling helmet is to find the right size. Measure your child's head with a tape measure, with the tape sitting about an inch above the eyebrows, don’t pull the tape measure too tight and ensure it sits level, then note down the measurements in both CM and inches to ensure you can always find the right size.
In the same way that adult mountain bike and road bike helmets provide a good baseline of protection - ensure that your child's bike helmet should meet the basic requirements, which are seen as a CE mark and BS EN 1078 standards. Once a helmet has met this standard, it can be trusted - and then it’s about choosing a helmet with the features, colours and style you want. Features include MIPS - a unique system which helps protect the head further in the event of an impact. Other features include peaks and ventilation for comfort.
Kids Full Face Bike Helmets are an increasingly popular choice with many riders and parents, with the helmet offering excellent levels of protection for the face, chin, and head. You can view the complete range of bike helmets above, and please get in touch if you have any questions.
