The History Of The Pinarello Grevil
It’s not too often that a bike is launched without any compromise, and that’s exactly what we believe the Pinarello Gravel Bike is - a bike without comprimise.
Pinarello is one of the most exclusive and high end bike brands in the world of road cycling, and Pinarello is a brand which has always pushed the boundaries of innovation and bike design. The brand is responsible for the dogma series of bikes which included groundbreaking aerodynamics. Similarly, the Pinarello Grevil is another great example of this bike brand pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved with regards to a gravel bike.
In this post, we look at the bike’s history, as well as looking at the available Grevil models in greater detail.
Pinarello Grevil Launch
The Grevil was introduced in 2018, making this a young bike by some standards. The Grevil was Pinarello’s first foray into the gravel bike market - so this bike represents usability, versatility and durability that was previously missing from Pinarello’s exclusive road bike lineup.
The design philosophy behind the Grevil was simple yet incredibly hard to achieve - the design principles were to create a gravel bike that didn’t compromise on the high racing pedigree of the Pinarello brand.
Luckily, Pinarello were able to draw inspiration and design from the Dogma series that we have already mentioned, the Grevil includes many of the aerodynamic features and advanced materials found in Pinarello’s top-tier road bikes such as the Dogma. So the brand had a headstart when it came to designing their ground up gravel bike.
The result is amazing, and the Grevil can not only tackle off road terrain, but also excels when it comes to racing, speed and handling.
Pinarello Grevil Features
Not surprisingly, the main features of the Pinarello Grevil include it’s aerodynamic design, the Grevil has a asymmetrical frame that is incredibly aerodynamic, as well as incredibly rigid - making this bike as quick and efficient as possible.
The geometry of the bike tows the line perfectly between comfort and performance - it’s a bike which can be ridden across rough terrain and is more than comfortable enough for long days in the saddle. The Torayca carbon fibre this bike is built from, means the bike handles gravel riding incredibly well.
Since its launch, the Pinarello Grevil has undergone several refinements an updates, that have further enhanced the bikes capabilities and performance.
The introduction of the Grevil+ variant brought even more advanced materials and refined geometry, catering to serious gravel racers.
In our opinion, the impact that the Grevil has had on the gravel bike community has been massive - this bike sets the benchmark of what a high performance gravel bike should look like, and most importantly, what one should ride like.
