2022 Giant Anthem Advanced Pro 29 1 Review
The Advanced Pro 29 version here is the tuned version; it boasts 130mm travel from the front fork - and there’s 120mm of rear wheel travel. The single pivot spring arm provides this travel, and there’s also flex in from the carbon fibre seat stays.
The headset on the Anthem Advanced Pro 29 is adjustable, allowing the 65.8 head angle to be adjusted and made steeper by 0.6 degrees. The seat tube angle is pretty slack at 76.4 degrees, which is more noticeable the higher the seatpost.
There are plenty of controls on the handlebars - which can seem daunting at first, one of which is the remote control for the Fox Transfer dropper post. There’s also wireless SRAM Eagle AXS gearing - and the brakes are Shimano’s excellent XTR four-pot brakes.
2022 Giant Anthem Advanced Pro Ride
You only have to look at this bike to realise its race pedigree - let alone ride it. But that’s the first thing that hits you when riding this bike - it’s incredibly quick, so quick you look for the brakes to scrub some speed off. The suspension is incredibly smooth, and the tyres are incredibly quick - meaning there’s predictability in this bike's handling and low rolling resistance.
This bike always feels like it wants pedalling - riding this bike, you feel protected from kickback through the pedals. With the adjustable head tube on its slackest settings - this bike feels like a down-country mountain bike. The bike climbs incredibly well, with relatively thin wheels.
