Cannondale CAAD13 Disc 105 Review

The Cannondale CAAD13 Disc 105 Road Bike - performs and rides much better in the real world than it looks on paper. It’s not the cheapest road bike on the market, and it’s not the lightest one you can buy - but it makes up for these factors with an exciting ride. Sharing its geometry and design cues with the Supersix Evo Carbon Fibre race bike - this is a comfortable road bike which encourages the rider to push on. There are plenty of aero features - such as aerofoil tubes - which reduce drag by up to 30% compared to the CAAD12.

It’s also a bike with many uses in the rear world; there are greater tyre clearances allowing 30mm tyres to be run on both the front and rear wheels. There's also mudguard mounts which is useful for those commuting or riding through the winter months. The cabling on the bike is what can be described as ‘partially concealed.’

The bike's gearing can be described as mid to compact, with a 52/36 and 11-30 cassette. Those tackling steep climbs have the option of fitting a bigger cassette. Gear changes on the bike feel great, with the Shimano 105 system working really well.

Although the bike's weight may mean that some people view it as a poor climber - it’s not the case. As soon as you step on the bike - you realise this bike is enjoyable to climb on. In fact, it’s enjoyable to ride anywhere - it handles well, it’s smooth and it punches well above its budget.
