Chainrings
Chainrings are vital components on any bike, be it a road bike, mountain bike, gravel bike or a leisure bike. As part of the drivetrain, chainrings are attached to the crank arm and are welded to the crankarm or attached via bolts. The chain of the bike is then run through the chainrings and the teeth of the chainring bites the chain - propelling the bike forward.
Chainrings that we supply are typically purchased by customers who are replacing a broken or damaged chainring. Chainring materials include steel, titanium as well as carbon fibre. As the chainring plays such a vital role in the performance and function of the bike - the highest quality chainrings provide the maximum energy efficiency when pedalling - usually aluminium and steel are the most popular chainring materials because of their strength. Carbon fibre and titanium chainrings are also available, but are less commonly seen.
Chainrings also assist the bike in changing gear, by using either shifting ramps or pins - that help the chain shift from one chain to another. Poor and slack gear changes are the obvious sign that you need to replace a chain ring - as a side note, maintaining your chain well is the best way to prevent having to replace and remove a chainring.
