The rear shock provides the suspension and damping for the rear wheel on full suspension mountain bikes. Common features on good quality shocks are damping and compression adjustment which allow the rider to fine tune the way the rear suspension reacts to the terrain.

In recent years, one of the biggest advances in bike technology is undoubtedly the full suspension mountain bike. Today, full suspension mountain bikes with incredibly effective suspension, are available at a range of price points and budgets. Perhaps the most important component of any full suspension bike is the rear shock absorber - which provides fantastic performance in getting you, and your mountain bike down and across some of the harshest off road terrain.

Selling complete full suspension bikes, alongside a range of shock components to buy from our website - we understand that some customers want the value and convenience of buying a fully assembled full suspension bike, whilst the more adventurous customers want to build their own full suspension bike, with the components of their choice. In the middle of these customers, are customers which want to replace an older rear shock with something more modern, which in the process sheds weight, increases adjustability, performance and comfort.

One of the most important things to consider when buying a shock, is the size of shock that your bike requires. Although each will need measuring carefully, full suspension mountain bikes which have been designed to cover ground cross country, will typically use a shorter travel air shock - to provide the right balance between comfort and movement. Downhill full suspension mountain bikes however, will have a longer travel shock, which has been designed for soaking up maximum energy on the downhill trails. Shocks with with longer travel, will also sometimes be coil sprung.

It’s also worth noting that the majority of shocks that we supply are also damped, ensuring that the rate at which the shock both compresses and releases - is regulated, avoiding the dreaded pogo effect of cheaper full suspension bikes.

On this page, you can view our full range of rear shocks which encompasses the following brands: Fox, Marzocchi, Scott and Cannondale. If you have any questions about these rear shocks, please do just get in touch and we will be more than happy to help out with any questions that you may have.
