Handlebars are one of the most important parts of any bike - as one of three main contact points on the bike. Gravel Bike Handlebars are typically sized up compared to the road bike handlebar size you normally take, so it’s not uncommon for a road cyclist who uses 40cm width road handlebars, to use 42cm handlebars on a road bike - although a lot of this comes down to personal preference.

The additional width of a gravel bike handlebar provides important extra control when travelling across rougher terrain - and most gravel bike riders also prefer a wider drop in their handlebar. Alongside providing extra control and stability, the wider handlebars of a gravel bike also allow for a greater range of luggage to be used on top of the handlebar, when touring.

Flare Gravel Bike Handlebars are another popular option, these bars are wider on the drops than the hoods - which allows riders to enjoy a wider still option for increased stability, which is especially useful and noticeable when descending.

Other than the basics, there’s a huge range of options to choose from - unlike road bike handlebars, there are no UCI rules governing grael bars - so you can expect to see flat bars, alongside wide flared drops, swept tops and aero gravel bars.
