Base Layers

At Westbrook, we are proud to stock and supply an excellent range of Castelli Base Layers - which have been designed for wear and use by road cyclists. Castelli Base Layers are designed to keep you as comfortable as possible when cycling, as part of a number of different layers you use when cycling to stay dry, and at a comfortable temperature.

Castelli Base Layers are designed to wick moisture and sweat away from the surface of the skin - transporting any sweat away from the body to the outer of the fabric, where it can more easily be evaporated away. This process is typically known as wicking.

Base Layers also need to be incredibly comfortable, and decent base layers have as a few seams as possible to prevent the risk of irritation and chafing.

The Castelli range of base layers encompass both mens and womens base layers - and there’s base layer vests, long sleeve base layers and short sleeve base layers available to buy. There’s also a range of warmer base layers, designed for wear during the colder winter months.

The Core Mesh is one of the most popular ranges of base layer, and the Core Mesh provides the perfect summer base layer, which is the hardest of all base layers to perfect. Castelli have made this range as minimalistic as possible, with an open mesh which does a great job of dragging moisture and sweat away from the surface of the skin.

The fabric used is also very stretchy, which has been achieved without the use of lycra - which struggles to wick away moisture. Other features of the Core Mesh range include extra comfortable seams, as well extreme lightweight.
