Although officially formed in 1974 when Maurizio Castelli fell out with his father and created his own brand, Castelli’s roots actually extend all the way back to a small tailoring shop in Milan in 1876. In all the years since then, they’ve never had to contend with a set of challenges quite as unique as they faced during 2020 while developing the SS21 clothing range. Despite being in lockdown, without the ability to test during races and faced with a whole host of logistical nightmares, they still focussed on the creation of innovative products to help make your cycling more comfortable, faster, and more fun.

SUMMER RIDING WITH CASTELLI SS21

This year’s spring/summer offering is probably the most diverse range yet from Castelli and sees the Unlimited gravel range increase in size, new additions to their more economical lines and advancements in design and material in their elite racewear. As ever, you’ll find summer base layers, summer jerseys, cycling bibshorts and everything else you need in order to get your layering right, whether you’re going out on a cool morning with a forecast for sun later in the day or a hot afternoon with rain clouds on the horizon.

Castelli went back to the drawing board when they created the Perfetto Ros Convertible Jacket, and ended up with a hugely versatile jacket. RoS (Rain or Shine) treatment means excellent rain protection while retaining the breathability of the Perfetto. With the sleeves on you’ve got a Perfetto long sleeve jacket and with the sleeves off you’ve got a Gabba, so you get two brilliant garments in one.

If you’re into long days in the saddle, the new Endurance 3 Bibshort will be right up your street. Castelli have used their renowned Progetto X² Air Seamless pad to make a traditional short into an exceptional one. This feature-packed short offers all-day comfort at a great price.

Castelli have used a new micro-pique fabric which has been cross-dyed, resulting in a greater depth-of colour on the Classifica Jersey which gives a solid colour jersey that little bit of a stylish touch. Combined with a close to body fit that’s not too revealing and a YKK Vislon full-length zip, it’ll keep you looking and feeling good all day long.
