Shimano
Saint
The Shimano Saint component range was introduced for use in gravity related disciplines such as downhill mountain biking and freeride, and as such is the strongest and most durable of Shimano's MTB groupsets. Not only does Shimano Saint have a focus on durability, but it is also designed for performance, and is relied on by some of the world's best world cup downhill riders.
Shimano Saint was initially introduced in 2004 in order to tackle the demanding terrain and conditions of the growing sports of freeride and downhill. Courses were getting steeper and longer and riders were demanding more from their bikes than ever before, so a range was required that could tackle these challenges.
Shimano Saint brakes are still some of the most powerful mountain bike brakes available, using similar servo-wave technology to that found in the top-tier Shimano XTR, to provide reliable and powerful stopping power along with all of the control you could wish for. The calipers use 4 ceramic pistons and are fitted with finned brake pads to help heat dissipation.
Another popular product in this range are Shimano Saint pedals which combine their tried and tested SPD design that has been relied on by the world's best riders for decades, and pairs it with a large platform to provide a wider area for your foot to contact and allows for unclipped riding.
