POC
Westbrook Cycles are happy to be once again stocking POC helmets, clothing and body armour, featuring some established favourites alongside some brand new offerings such as the POC Kortal range.
Who are POC?
It’s not unusual for there to be a link in a company’s roots spanning cycling and snowsports, and Swedish based POC are no exception to this. Founded in 2005, POC has built a reputation in the cycling industry for producing premium apparel and protection that excels in its purpose; be it shaving watts for a timetrialler or providing unrivalled safety performance for the world’s best downhill mountain bike riders. All of this is of course done without sacrificing anything in the looks department, with their clothing being amongst the most stylish available.
Unrivalled Safety
At the heart of a lot of POC’s ranges are some innovative safety features which really set them apart from other brands. POC MTB helmets were quick to adopt rotational impact technology, working with MIPS and then later developing their own SPIN technology. The new helmet ranges from POC once again see a collaboration with MIPS in the form of MIPS Integra. For helmets, we have found the POC Omne Air Spin to be the favoured choice of the roadies and the POC Tectal being the go-to for the MTBers in the past, but with new models such as the POC Kortal, that may change..
For cyclists who ride on roads, be it on a road bike or commuting on a hybrid bike, digital technology has been incorporated into some of the jackets and backpacks, improving visibility and communication between the cyclist and motorists. This is done with the unique use of the SEE | ME smartphone app, allowing the rider to display indicators and lights to drivers though a controller or voice commands.
POC body armour has long been synonymous with safety and performance, leading the way with their VPD technology. This allows the armour to fit perfectly to any body shape and provide unrivalled mobility, but in the event of an impact, the armour becomes solid to reduce the risk of injury. POC knee pads have always been a favourite of our customers and staff due to their high level of protection and mobility.
Clothing
Throughout POC’s clothing range are some well thought out colour options in styles that will suit every rider. The long sleeve jerseys of the Essential road range are perfect for the cooler months of Spring and Autumn and can be perfectly paired with a jacket or gilet. For those who prefer to avoid the roads, the Resistance range covers you from downhill orientated trousers, through to baggy shorts that are ideal for riding on the gravel bike.
