The sub £3,000 price bracket is a really popular price point for road cyclists, and for good reason. At this price point, you can expect road bikes to be constructed from the latest and most advanced materials, such as carbon fibre and also at this price point, you can expect high quality components, meaning you do not need to worry about investing in upgrades for your bike - as the level of components at the price point, usually more than matches the level of riding and any performance requirements. Although carbon fibre is the material of choice at this level, there’s still alloy and aluminium road bikes in this price bracket.
An additional benefit of purchasing a bike at this price point, is the trickle down technology that these bikes recieve from more expensive models within their ranges, so you can expect find geometry and designs from world class road bikes, on the bike that you choose.
Although £3,000 is a lot of money to spend on a road bike, it remains a great value for money price point because you can buy a very good bike, with decent specification and components - without increasing the budget to the price of small car.
