The sub £1,000 is the perfect price point for many riders looking to get on a gravel bike, as well as being the perfect budget for those wanting to try gravel riding - this budget is often plenty to gain access to a high quality gravel bike, for those adding a gravel bike to their collection VS buying their only bike.

Part of the reasons Gravel Bikes are affordable, is because of their simplicity VS many of their counterparts in the road bike sector and certainly in the mountain bike sector. Gravel bikes can be simple bikes which do things well, and they are designed to bridge the gap between an all singing and dancing mountain bike, and a road bike.

These gravel bikes are designed to be pushed hard, and they are more than at home across a wide range of terrain, from bridleways and paths, across to dirt roads, fire roads and even singletrack.

Gravel bikes at this price point will be designed and made from alloy, so will have an alumnium based frame. Many of gravel bikes at this price point have a carbon fibre fork, all of these bikes will have a powerful hydraulic or mechanical disc brake. Drivetrains vary, and there’s 2x and 1x drivetrains within the range.

Tyre widths available, also varies - ranging from around 32mm up to 45mm - allowing you to choose a tyre setup which suits the terrain that you are riding on. These bikes are versatile by nature, so most have plenty of mounts for racks and bottles, alongside mudguards.

Within this range there are many different designs and geometries to choose from. There are gravel bikes which are closely linked to the geometry and design of an endurance road bike - these are perfect for those looking for a fast ride, whilst there are also gravel bikes which are closely linked to a mountain bike - these bikes have larger tyre clearances and a more relaxed, upright geometry for all day comfort.

At Westbrook Cycles, we have invested heavily in our range of gravel bikes that we bring to market, these bikes are really popular with ‘old school’ riders who remember the days of rigid forked mountain bikes. All of the big bike brands are represented within this range, so you can expect to see bikes from industry leaders such as Scott, Giant, GT, Cannondale and Cube.

Some of the standout models within this price bracket, are the Cube Nuroad One, the Cube Nulane One, the Giant ToughRoad and the Bergamont Grandurance 4. Many of these bikes have been heavily discounted, making them budget gravel bikes without the budget specification, all of these gravel bikes provide a high quality ride, with reliable and high performance components as standard.

The frames of these gravel bikes often feature trickle down technology from much more expensive models, meaning that they are the perfect platform to upgrade over time. Above, you can find our complete range of gravel bikes under £1,000.

If you have any questions about the right gravel bike for your and your riding requirements, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss your exact needs, and match these needs to the best gravel bike for you, if we can do so.
